The Insurance Institute of Preston and
Blackpool
PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Dear Member
At the Annual General Meeting I said how proud I am at the prospect
of assuming the role of President of our Institute for the second time.
It is indeed a great honour and I am conscious of the fact that I am
following in the footsteps of many fine people who have worked so hard
to ensure that we achieved the position of strength that we enjoy today.
In 2000, I wrote about the major changes that our industry faced, but
I wonder how many of us could have even guessed at the pace and extent
of those changes. Insurance is so different today than it was at the
start of the Millennium and I have little doubt that there will be many
more challenges ahead of us. You can rest assured, however, that the
Insurance Institute of Preston & Blackpool will be working to keep
you abreast of any developments and will arrange its programme to ensure
that we bring you the most relevant speakers whenever we can.
So please do support our lectures and educational programmes, they
are put together with you in mind.
Your Council will be working hard to ensure that your best interests
of this Institute are represented at all times, that it offers the best
facilities available and that its future is protected.
Being mindful of the old saying ‘all work and no play’
we have also organised a programme of social events that I hope that
you will also support.
Having been the Charities Representative last year, I am well aware
of the important work being carried out by The Insurance Charities.
During 2008 The Baby Beat Appeal will be celebrating its 21st birthday.
Its aim is to maintain standards in maternity care by providing state
of the art equipment and training specialist staff to use it. I have
chosen this very worthwhile cause as my nominated charity for the year
and hope you will support them both.
Al always the Council is here to represent you. If you have any ideas
or would like to discuss any issues that concern you, please let us
know, our contact details are printed elsewhere in this Programme.
I look forward to seeing you soon.
Have a great year.
Sandra Turner
