The Insurance Institute of Preston and
Blackpool
PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
I am both proud and privileged to take on the presidency
this year and am
conscious of the responsibility and indeed tradition since Preston’s
formation in 1921 (Blackpool 1931).
Looking back to that inaugural year I just wonder
if our forefathers would recognise it now – The age of the computer
not the quill pen! I am convinced however that they would be pleased
with the steps that have and are being made by the CII in reaching out
into our community. I intend to continue
pushing forward and building on our past achievements and try to engage
further with our membership.
Your Council would certainly like to connect even
more with the business community. To try and ensure our programme continues
to be meaningful to business life. In addition to seek the views of
local employers perhaps fine tuning our programme of activities to run
parallel with their needs.
We at IIPB have a very fine tradition of supporting
our own charity
‘The Insurance Charities’ and a more local one selected
by the President. This year my choice is Derian House Children’s
Hospice providing support for families where the long term future for
their children is unknown. I would ask for your support in the coming
months when raffle tickets are being pushed under your nose!
I have a very experienced council behind me who are
committed to represent you and producing a programme for the new season
that is of real benefit. I would like to thank them for their support
as I go through my presidential year.
Finally I look forward to meeting as many members
as I can during the next year at both business and social events.
