Insurance Charities Day 2010

Friday June 18th

The Insurance Charities

The Insurance Charities give vital financial and practical support to past and present employees of the insurance industry who have spent at least five years either working as insurance officials or within an insurance company or intermediary, regardless of their type of work. Support is also given to their dependent relatives, who are suffering financial hardship.

We collect at our Meetings to support the needs of the Charity and over the years have raised thousands of pounds.

We would emphasise that all enquiries are treated in the strictest confidence.

To be successful at a local level, it is important not only to support The Insurance Charities by raising funds at our educational and social occasions, but also to let potential beneficiaries know of the help that might be available to them.

We are proud of our record of supporting The Insurance Charities (TIC) and other charities. In the last ten years, we have sent over £14,000 to TIC and £20,000 to other organisations, such as Galloways, St. Catherine’s Hospice, North West Air Ambulance, Derian House and R.N.L.I.

Your local Institute is responsible for raising both the profile of TIC and the funds necessary to support its work.

Our Insurance Charities Representative, Roy Winter, has agreed to continue the excellent work that he has done over the last few years in visiting people who really do benefit from the advice and/or financial assistance that he is able to organise for them.

TIC is our charity and continues to help past and present insurance staff of all ages – from the 35 year old suffering from Multiple Sclerosis to the 80 year old pensioner who simply couldn’t afford to replace his leaking roof.

If you need help, or if you know someone who needs help, please contact our Charities Representative, George Turner, in strictest confidence. His daytime telephone number is 07743 825818.

We will continue to hold raffles at our lectures and social events, but would like to suggest that during the year every office, however large or small, might organise its own fundraising event – what about a dressing down day or a coffee morning? Please email your ideas by clicking George
